In my newsletters in April and May, I wrote about the supply-side challenges impacting the Ottawa real estate market.  This month, let’s take a look at the demand-side. While this highly competitive market can be more challenging for my buyer clients, it makes this Bostonian pretty proud of this city to see the economic growth driving the increased demand.  And my seller (and potential seller) clients should be especially excited.

While the national rate of population growth is 5.9%, year-over-year population growth for Ottawa topped 8.8% last year.  Why are people coming here? According to Invest Ottawa, here are just a few of the top reasons:

Referrals: the engine of my business

Also in my last issue, I wrote about my enthusiasm for recommending the businesses I believe in– anything from painting to landscaping to soundproofing to brickwork.  I have had a few conversations since about the power and challenges of referral businesses.

There is no business in which I would rather work.  I am able to do great work for clients who appreciate it.  They refer me to their like-minded friends, and I have the privilege of doing it over again.  I can grow my business with clients who share my values and value my work. The challenge (or opportunity) comes with making sure people understand how important their referrals are… and that they remember to refer my business when the opportunity presents itself.  A referral is the best indicator of success and the highest compliment for my business. If you are in position, and of the mind, please consider recommending me to your friends and family. But don’t take my word for it! Check out the testimonials on my website.  Anyone of these people would talk to you in a heartbeat.

Favourite things for June:

  • Tavern on the Falls: A no-brainer, basically at the end of my street, and one of the most Instagrammable locations in the city.  A must-visit destination for a cold beer on a warm night.

  • Fiazza Fresh Fired and Mantovani 1946: My families favourite one-two punch on a weekend night.  Delicious wood-oven fired pizza followed by the best gelato and pastries this side of Roma- right across the street from each other on Murray Street.

  • Another plug for one of the most unique yoga experiences you will find- Parliament Hill Yoga.  See you there.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!
